Retro Bunnies

Hello friends,

I love this time of year when the world feels like it’s waking up. Each day the light lasts a little longer, and with more light comes stronger colour.

I’ve spent the last few months in the studio going a little bit nuts and mixing up a kaleidoscope of colours. Rhythmic line and repetition are already important strategies in my work, but this time I have combined them with contrasting colours to create a series of 24 small paintings.

Each one is an original painting, but by repeating the same image using a different combination of contrasting colours, you create a punchy dynamic when they’re grouped together. Many of the colours take me straight back to my 70’s childhood, so I’ve called them ‘Retro Bunnies’.

I’ve learnt so much about colour from this exercise - mostly that there is so much more yet to learn… But I’m excited by the way the colours pop and jump about in relation to each other. Colour energises me and genuinely lifts my mood, so I hope these bunnies make you smile.

Easter is the season of the bunny, so enjoy yourselves! All good wishes for the year unfolding, and I’ll be back in the Summer to unveil a new “body” of work exploring rhythm and movement in the human body (see what I did there)…

Thank you for all your support and encouragement - it means so much.

If you are interested in any of the individual Retro Bunnies or a set of 4, please feel free to email me or browse in the shop.
